Volunteer Info 2024/2025 Thank you for your interest in the Burbank Tournament of Roses Association. We are an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that designs, builds and decorates the City of Burbank's entry into the annual Rose Parade® held on New Year’s morning in Pasadena, California.
Volunteers: We accept volunteers aged 7 on up. Under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while at the float.
If you want to bring a group of 10 or more, please email us at info@burbankrosefloat.com We don't schedule groups during Deco Week due to the large number of walk-in volunteers. Groups are still welcome to come during Deco Week, but there may be a wait and/or we may break up the group depending on what needs to be done.
Everyone must have a signed Release/Code of Conduct form before working/volunteering, under 18 must have the form signed by a parent or guardian.
Release/Code of Conduct forms are available on-site or at: http://www.burbankrosefloat.com/release-forms.html
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty or ruined and wear flat bottom, closed-toed shoes that cover the entire foot at all times. Do not wear sandals, perforated shoes (example Crocs) or high heels when at the float site.
Location: The float is built and decorated at the Burbank Water and Power yard at 123 W. Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91502. Note: Near the intersection of Olive and Flower, under the Olive Ave. bridge, across from Borrmann Steel Co. Inside the Burbank Water and Power yard the building is marked “BWP Auxiliary Warehouse."
Please park in the Metrolink parking lot (5 W. Olive Ave., Burbank), under the Olive Ave. overpass at the corner of Olive and Flower St. Parking is free.
Work Parties: We are a year-round organization. We work almost every Saturday on the float. Stop by anytime on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. If you want to call first to make sure we are at the float, the float site phone number is: (818) 840-0060.
Deco Week: Deco Week is December 26-31, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., however we usually work much later. On December 31st we will typically finish decorating by second Judging and then will need volunteers after judging to help prepare the float for convoy by clearing all workspaces. If you are interested in decorating, we recommend volunteering on or before December 30th.
We cannot guarantee any openings, but please be patient and come as soon as you can. We try to take new volunteers on a first-come basis. We highly recommend coming early in the week (or before Deco Week if possible) to get yourself established.
Float Judging: On December 30th and 31st we have Judging, everyone is welcome to watch the Judges as they inspect our float. Times will be posted on our website, under the Calendar section as soon as we are given the schedule. Typically, the judging is around 2:00 p.m.
Keep checking our web site at: http://www.burbankrosefloat.com/calendar.html for up-to-date information.
Post Parade Float Viewing: You can also see the finished float in Pasadena January 1-3, 2025, at the Post Parade/FloatFest Viewing area or in Burbank at the corner of Olive Ave. and Glenoaks Blvd. on January 4-5, 2025.
De-Construction: Even before we have finished building and decorating the float, we are planning our Float De-Construction Work Party and BBQ Lunch. Currently scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the float site.
