(working title)

The 2027 Design Contested ended on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. with 67 entries received.
On Saturday, January 31, 2026 the Board of Directors narrowed down the entries to 8 finalist
The 8 finalists were presented to our paid membership and on Thursday, February 5, 2026 over 93 people voted to determine which float we wanted to build for the 2027 Rose Parade.
The number one pick was called "Lighthouses Welcome You Home" (working title), designed by Richard Burrow from Mission Viejo, CA.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026 we registered our number one and number two picks with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association's special Theme Draft meeting.

On Saturday, February 28, 2026 we received approval that our number one pick with the working title of  "Lighthouses Welcome You Home" was accepted making Richard Burrow from Mission Viejo, CA. our Design Contest winner!

This is Richard's fifth time winning our design contest (first time was for 2013's Fantasy Trophy winning float "Deep Sea Adventure", second time was 2017's "Home Tweet Home", third time was for 2023's  Queen Award winning float "Adventure Awaits" and the fourth time was for 2024's Mayor Award winning float "Caterpillar Melody").

On the same day as we received word that the drawing was being accepted, our Design Committee held a kick-off Brainstroming session to start working on how to turn this concept into a float.
Even before our first design meeting a new proposed drawing was released to help show some possible changes.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026 the first line drawing was released showing some of the suggestions that came out of the brainstorming meeting.
A day later on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 another drawing was released showing a skinner lighthouse.
On Friday, March 13, 2026 a late night revision was released showing a band around the lighthouse. This band would be used to raise and lower the overheight lighthouse. These three drawings were presented to the Design Committee at their Saturday, March 14, 2026 meeting.
On Tuesday, March 24, 2026 two new drawings were released based on feedback from the last Design Committee meeting. These drawings will be reviewed by the Design Committee at their next meeting.
At the Saturday, March 28, 2026 Design Committee meeting, the group decided to go with both Pelicans on the dock/pier and wanted changes to the lighthouse building. On Sunday, March 29, 2026 this revised drawing was released.

There were still concerns with the size of the lighthouse enterance building, so this final line drawing was released on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Now, the Decorations Committee will start selecting the colors and at the next General Meeting the float title will be selected.
