Congratulations to Adam Ostegard of Burbank for winning our Design
Contest and the concept being accepted by Pasadena Tournament of Roses
Association to represent the City of Burbank 75th float in the 120th annual
Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2009. The drawing on the
right is the original concept drawing as submitted. Click on it to

The Design Committee held an open brainstorming meeting on March 1,
2008 to go over proposed changes on how to turn the drawing into a
float. Based on the feedback the committee received, Adam drew a
revised drawing that was presented on March 8, 2008. Click on the
drawing to see a larger view. In this version, the pirate ship was
dropped which allowed the screen to tell a more unified story.
Even though we are now trying to depict two separate movies, a
double-feature, the alien attack and dinosaur work together on the big
screen. |

One of the big discussions revolved around what to put
on the back of the screen. The two drawings on the left were
proposed by Adam to the Design Committee. The committee liked the one on the left,
but with the Burbank Drive-In wording added. |
At the April 2008 General Meeting the members voted to
name the float "3D Double Feature". On May 14, 2008 the final line
drawing was released.
Alien’s
attack and a T-Rex storms though town, what a wonderful family outing at
the local drive-in theater to watch a double feature in 3D! |

On July 3, 2008 the final color rendering was released. |
On September 6, 2008 the back of screen graphic was
finally created and submitted to Tournament on September 8, 2008 for
their approval. |
